With television ranking the highest activity for non-school waking time for youth –it’s no wonder that the old adage “garbage in, garbage out” could not be more true. While adults wring their hands about teen pregnancy and the influence of TV, we now have even more evidence that our culture’s children are entertained with television programming not intended for them. Desperate Housewives is now the most popular broadcast TV show among kids aged 9-12.  Do you think kids this age really understand relationships better from this kind of entertainment? We don’t need to wonder why TV influences teen pregnancy; we need to wonder why our children are allowed to watch.
