Center for Disease Control Offers Bad News: STD’s The Big Hurt |
|
You know what adversely affects 65 million Americans with another 19 million others each year? Sexually transmitted diseases. We’re talking Chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, herpes and human papillomavirus (HPV). That’s an unhealthy collection of both curable and incurable diseases. One more bonus: almost half of all the new STD cases are in the 15-24 year old age group. Why is this news important? It‘s because we’re losing the war. Anyone considering sex needs to ask questions. Am I infected? Can I get one of these diseases? Hopefully the answer to the first question is “no”. The answer to the second question is absolutely “yes”. Take time to evaluate your risk, your relationships and then think about your future. There are choices to be made. You don’t have to be one of the Center for Disease Control’s statistics. You could have a healthy, monogamous, wait-for-marriage relationship—then all of this information really won’t affect you. Sex is worth waiting for.
