The annual VMA gathering usually brings its share of memorable moments. This year’s event was no exception. When VMA Host Russell Brand issued his mocking opinion regarding the Jonas Brothers purity rings "I'd take them a little more seriously if they wore it on their genitals," the hoopla began. First, Jordin Parks flashed her purity ring and said there was more to life than being a slut. Paris Hilton also encouraged the Jonas boys, although we all know Paris doesn’t necessarily walk the purity walk. Famous faces sporting purity rings are Hilary Duff and Selena Gomez. So what’s the big deal with a purity ring? It’s a statement that says, “I am saving sex for marriage”. Old-fashioned? Unrealistic? Perhaps to some. But more are considering sexual purity a wise investment in both their mental and physical health. Why diminish the chances for a successful marriage by lugging in a ton of baggage with past sexual relationships? Even if you escape the STD roulette, you will have scars from a sexual past. Slip on a purity ring and consider your life worthy of only the best.
