Safe Sex, French Kissing & You |
|
Sometimes it’s hard to know what to believe. We heard about Safe Sex—wear a condom and all is well. When that wasn’t quite as “safe” as the experts thought, along came Safer Sex, with fresh warnings about condom failure, and the news that those pesky, life-long, incurable sexually transmitted infections might be caught more easily.
Keep in mind what may seem like innocent foreplay—such as skin-to-skin or mouth-to-mouth contact can spread herpes, HPV (genital warts and potentially leading to other life-threatening cancers), scabies, and pubic lice. Even kissing can spread herpes—while French kissing can spread oral gonorrhea and Chlamydia. Sadly, with Chlamydia the symptoms are often hidden and can lead to sterility. So in the interest of full disclosure, there is no Safe or Safer Sex. The only real thing is a mutually monogamous relationship—and remaining that way.
